I’m somewhere in the Alpine peaks. Adrenaline surges, my temples pound—one, two, three, a deep breath… and I’m snowboarding down the mountain! Speed, thrill, the frosty air, and a whirl of snow glittering under the sun as I carve through it.
But suddenly, I lose control, tumbling headlong. An eternity passes before I finally skid to a stop. A blinding white flash fills my vision, and the world falls into deafening silence—time itself seems frozen. Through the snow haze, I spot a dark smudge: a cave. Unbuckling my board, I trudge toward it.
Dim light glints off white stalagmites. The air is cold, dry, and salty. I reach out to touch the salt-crusted wall… and plunge straight through it. Warm steam envelops me head to toe.
As the mist clears, I find myself submerged in a mountain hot spring, its water crystal clear. A figure emerges from the shadows, moving toward me. I feel like I know her—but her name escapes me. She hands me a thermos of a spiced drink, fragrant with cardamom. Exactly what I need. The tension melts away, and I stop wondering where I’ve landed. I just take a sip… and exhale.
