File and buff your nails to shape them and smooth the surface.
Select your nail polish color and type. You can use regular nail polish or gel nail polish, which lasts longer and requires a UV or LED lamp to cure.
Start with a base coat to protect your nails and prevent staining.
Apply nail polish in thin layers, using three strokes for each nail. Leave a small gap between the polish and the cuticles.
Cure each layer under a lamp if you are using gel nail polish.
Clean up the edges with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover.
Apply the top coat to seal the color and add shine.
